This is a deeply personal visceral piece that serves as a landmark in my artistic evolution. Created during a period of intense physical and psychological recovery following a severe injury to my dominant arm this work was executed largely with my non-dominant left hand. The title is a dual reference to both the literal physical toll of that time and the shift to my left hand to keep my practice alive.
The composition features a raw NSFW exploration of being rent apart. It utilizes intricate pyrography for the central figure and background textures set against a layered wash of watercolor and wood stain. The linework in the background represents some of my first successful attempts at lefty pyrography making this a literal artifact of the moment I chose to survive and adapt.
Details:
Dimensions: 18 inch diameter
Medium: Original pyrography, watercolor, and wood stain on wood round
Impact: 100% of proceeds support the building of the Reclamation & Relic storefront expansion
