SPICY Sessions: Craft Nights, Workshops, and a Gallery Built for Us

I've talked about SPICY as a vision. Here's what it actually is, in practice.

The SPICY Sessions

These sessions are the community programming happening inside our new Flex Space: a room in the process of being built specifically to not overwhelm you. Acoustic privacy, adjustable lighting, scent control, no pressure to perform "fine" for anyone. Same standard we built the tattoo studio on, just applied to a room instead of a chair. Sessions stay small, 8 to 10 people, never a crowd.

The Deets:

We will have all kinds of classes, workshops, and open times. I, myself, am teaching woodburning(pyrography), art, marketing, and design classes. We've got paint nights, skill-shares where I'm learning right alongside you, and parallel play art nights where you bring your own project or grab something from the craft table and just work next to other people who get it. A bracelet and beadwork artist is teaching traditional techniques. A sewing instructor teaches a clothing-alteration series for trans bodies, since off-the-rack clothes…..and honestly, this is all just the beginning. New ideas, themes, and skills are hitting our idea list all the time and we will incorporate so many arts into this program.

Open Space for Artists

There's a resident-artist wall and rotating monthly shows, open to any local artist looking for gallery space and real foot traffic, not just a subset of makers.

Pricing on the workshop side is still something we're figuring out, but we want to build in flexibility, sliding-scale or subsidized seats where we can make it work, so cost isn't the reason someone can't show up.

While we are a tattoo shop, and proud of it, we're taking the sensory-sensitive and trauma-informed models beyond the tattoo chair and into an environment that builds community and camaraderie, while providing a safe and manageable environment for neurospicy minds.
